SHINING THE SPOTLIGHT ON DESIREE AND JESSICA
As Individuals We Can Do So Little, As A Team We Can Do So Much
Working as part of a real estate team is nothing like working as a solo broker. In fact, one might argue that the days of the solo broker are numbered. As the real estate industry evolves, there are ever-increasing expectations for the quality and consistency of services that only a team approach can best offer.
Real estate brokers wear many hats. They handle an incredible amount of responsibility for any transaction, including managing contracts and negotiations, property evaluations, marketing (video, photography, copywriting, and more), and administrative tasks. Of course, the most important goal is always to protect the client’s interests while upholding the highest possible levels of service and accountability. All these responsibilities can be overwhelming, exhausting, and nearly impossible for any broker to do on their own.
With the name BROADY plastered across the front of all our marketing materials, it’s easy to forget that not everyone on our team shares the same last name. There is a great quote by former United States President Harry S. Truman, who said: “It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.” The Broady family knows very well that Team Broady wouldn’t be what it is today without the invaluable contributions of our other teammates. Therefore, we’d like to shine the spotlight on two of our sales team members: Desiree Ofter and Jessica Rousseau.
Desiree joined our team in 2017 after having worked for a few years as an independent broker. When Desiree was younger, she never pictured herself working in real estate. When it came time for her to apply to university, she still didn’t know what she wanted to do. She was accepted at both John Molson School of Business at Concordia and the psychology program at McGill. Desiree ended up graduating from John Molson with a major in marketing. Looking back, she recognizes how both psychology and business are an important part of being a successful real estate broker. Being able to effectively market herself and a property, as well as understanding her clients’ mindset and motivations has been a huge asset for her in this business.
Shortly after becoming a full-time broker, Desiree purchased her first condo in Griffintown with her future husband. Relying entirely on a commission-based income, she found it scary at times and she worried about being able to pay her bills.
A couple of years later, Desiree heard that Team Broady was looking to add another member. She reached out to us to see if she would be a good fit. Here we are, five years later and are we ever fortunate to have her on board!
Desiree began by working exclusively with buyers and has since transitioned to representing sellers as well. She’s really excited to be more involved with the listing side of the business. Here is what one of Desiree’s clients had to say about her:
“Working with Desiree of Team Broady made the process of buying a new property in the current market a very pleasant experience. From the very first contact, Desiree was extremely responsive, knowledgeable and, most of all, we felt like she understood exactly what we wanted.
Desiree was able to secure us the perfect home, which attracted a bidding war, with 11 offers! Thanks to her experience, she was able to guide us to make sure our offer would stand out beyond just price… and it did! Without hesitation, we would highly recommend Desiree and Team Broady.
We certainly know who we will be working again with next time.”

Jessica Rousseau is the newest addition to Team Broady and we are thrilled to introduce her for the first time. Her love for real estate undoubtedly began with what she would come to know as her childhood home: a cobblestone Canadiana house located in Pointe-Claire Village. She witnessed her parents, an architect and an interior designer, fall head over heels for a home that still to this day is talked about by family and friends. Because a house isn’t merely just four walls and a roof – it’s where your story begins, and life’s big and small moments come to live.
Before pursuing a career in real estate, Jessica spent a considerable amount of time in Calgary where she obtained a marketing diploma, and a bachelor’s degree in communications and public relations. These achievements led her to work for some notable Western Canadian companies, which is where the thrill of planning corporate events, combined with her eye for design, eventually led her to launch her own wedding planning business. Her work has been featured in numerous publications and magazines, from California to New Zealand, to Toronto and New York, having even gained the attention of Martha Stewart Weddings magazine. To this day, Jessica still maintains connections with her past clients, and she remains incredibly grateful to have been given the honour of playing a key role in such a huge personal life event.
Eventually, Jessica and her husband heard Montreal calling, so they decided to set out on a new adventure together. Becoming a broker seemed like the perfect fit for someone who not only had an affinity for real estate, but who also possessed a lot of the skills necessary to be successful in the field. Much like a wedding, the world of real estate involves guiding a person in planning for and making one of life’s biggest moments a reality. Gifted with extraordinary attention to detail, and a friendly and approachable personality, Jessica plans on shaping her clients’ experience into a positive and memorable one by accompanying them on every step of the process.
Here is what one of Jessica’s clients had to say about her:
“My wife and I have moved several times during the past few years, and Jessica is by far the best realtor we have seen. Jessica is very patient, communicative and knowledgeable. She has been endlessly helpful during our house buying process. Buying a house is one of the pivotal points in one’s life and we fully entrust her in this journey.”
