Looking for inspiration

Episode 31

Time flies when you're busy! And busy we have been.

Although we did experience a considerable slow-down in real estate activity through April and May... June and July have been absolutely booming!

We're looking forward to seeing the market statistics for the end of July, because if our suspicions are correct - we're going to see another month of unprecedented growth in our local markets. But we'll have to wait until next week to know for sure. With this recent surge in activity, we have been running the Team Broady engines at full capacity. This means we're spending a lot of our time focused on transactions, and less time in the think tank coming up with our next brilliant idea.

This week I wanted to write about where the topics and themes come from for each week's Log. It's not always easy to decide what to write about, and sometimes I have to look to my teammates for ideas and inspiration. More often than not, they provide me with great material.

This week during one of our meetings, Catherine pointed out to me that we have a huge audience that tune into the Log every week, and that perhaps they could also be a great source of inspiration. This email goes out to over 1,000 contacts, and we have a fairly strong following on social media as well. One of the things we've learned about running a business is the importance of leverage. If you have an asset that can be leveraged effectively, then it only makes sense to do so. In this case, that asset is our network of clients, colleagues, and friends who are affiliated with our business. And the opportunity here is to leverage that network for some inspiration!

Now, not everyone who reads the 'ol Captain's Log is going to want to participate... and that's just fine. But there are a handful of readers out there who probably have some great ideas for us and who just require a little enticement to get them to share those ideas with us.

On a side note - we took a little time out of our busy schedules today to celebrate our incredible teammate, Sherry Tu's birthday. None of us had eaten a meal in a restaurant since early March, and we thought this would be a great excuse to take a break from work, and enjoy a nice meal together as a team. So we made a reservation at Le Gourmand in Pointe-Claire Village, outside on their beautiful terrace, and needless to say - we enjoyed every minute of it. We all know that restaurants have been hit especially hard by this crisis, and we thought it was important to continue supporting our local businesses.

We then decided that we could take it a step further, and tie this in to our search for inspiration.

So we bought two gift certificates for Le Gourmand for $100 each, and we're going to give those away to the TOP 2 best ideas from our audience.

If you have a suggestion for a topic of discussion, or a theme you'd like us to explore... now is your chance to see it come to life in the Captain's Log!

And as a way to say thank you, and as a way of supporting our local restaurants - you get to enjoy a fabulous meal courtesy of Team Broady.

Looking forward to hearing back from you!

Signing off...
